Amendment 40-20 of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) contains mu tiple changes. This amendment harmonized with the 21M edition of the UN Model regulations These notes are intended to provide an overview of the changes being introduced and should not be regarded as a complete I 'sting of amendments.

The IMDG Code, 2018 Edition (inc. Amendment 39-18) came into force on 1 January 2020 for two years and may be applied voluntarily as from 1 January 2019. Validity of this edition has been extended until 31 May 2022. The IMDG Code, 2020 Edition (inc. Amendment 40-20) comes into force on 1 January 2022 for two years and may be applied voluntarily as from 1 January 2021.
